House Glass

The custodians of the official record: preservation turned into the right to decide what counts.

FICTIONAL STORY ELEMENT · Created for THE DOME. This profile does not allege that a real person, company, club, or spiritual group participates in this fictional mechanism.

Civic role

Archives, public testimony, school histories, information credentials. Symbol: a vertical line dividing an open circle. Public promise: Nothing important will be forgotten.

Internal disagreement

Older archivists defend untouched originals. The prefect's office believes curated coherence prevents unrest. Several employees quietly preserve discarded transformation logs; the House is not a uniform villain.

Leverage

Glass can make a person administratively invisible by restricting access to their records. It cannot make that person physically disappear or force neighbors to forget them.

Ritual

The Annual Recitation is an invented civic ceremony in which approved witnesses repeat the city's shared account of North Gate. Its apparent unanimity is produced by invitation rules, not mind control.

Story consequence

Mara trained under Glass. Her professional standards become the tools she uses against its leadership. After the climax, preservation remains essential but certification becomes open to independent review.

Alternative explanations

This is invented narrative material, not a factual explanation of real-world events.

Counterarguments

Character beliefs are not automatically true within the story. Competing interpretations remain part of the drama.

Contradictory evidence

Not applicable to real-world evidence. Internal contradictions are identified in the story bible.
