Mara Vale / Digital Rose

A memory restorer who must expose the record she helped falsify.

FICTIONAL STORY ELEMENT · Created for THE DOME. This profile does not allege that a real person, company, club, or spiritual group participates in this fictional mechanism.

Identity

Thirty-four. Municipal recording restorer. Digital Rose is the anonymous signature on her private recovery notes, not a supernatural identity.

Want, need, and contradiction

Mara wants an indisputable answer about Eli. She needs to become trustworthy without first becoming certain. She demands transparent records while hiding her own North Gate approval.

Skill and cost

She hears edits in room tone and notices when a recorded breath does not match the surrounding space. Her attention is a learned professional skill, not paranormal perception. Sleeplessness makes it unreliable.

The wound

Seven years earlier she told Eli to follow the assigned evacuation route. She remained at her workstation to finish a repair, hoping it would help rescuers. Eli vanished. The repair later became the first authorized substitution of inferred testimony.

Arc

She begins by treating people as incomplete files. She ends by publishing her own culpability and accepting testimony she cannot neatly reconcile.

Relationships

Iona challenges her secrecy. Soren understands her professional shame. Venn offers an answer at the price of consent. MUSE mirrors her temptation to mistake a complete story for a true one.

Signature image and voice

A paper notebook full of crossed-out conclusions. She says, “Show me the part you cut,” before learning to ask, “Who wasn't allowed to speak?”

Alternative explanations

This is invented narrative material, not a factual explanation of real-world events.

Counterarguments

Character beliefs are not automatically true within the story. Competing interpretations remain part of the drama.

Contradictory evidence

Not applicable to real-world evidence. Internal contradictions are identified in the story bible.
